Hiroshima-Nagasaki Reflections: Staten Island Outloud

Hiroshima-Nagasaki Reflections
... a special community gathering, in cooperation with the United Nations

Special guests: SURVIVORS OF HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI

The Hibakusha (survivors of Hiroshima-Nagasaki) are our special guests at this community gathering. They'll engage in dialogue with us, and they'll share their personal stories, followed by a candlelight procession in memory of the war dead. We'll read poetry in English and in Japanese -- anyone can join in, or just sit back and enjoy being read to! JAPANESE SPEAKERS ARE ESPECIALLY WELCOME. Join us for this historic visit of the Hibakusha. Music by Staten Island ensemble WaFoo: Kazuo Nakamura (bass), Yuuki Koike (flute), Masashi Sonoda (guitar), Takeshi Asai (keyboard). Special performances by violinists Sanchie Bobrow, Aileen Ra, Jane Kim.

Presented by Staten Island OutLOUD, a community dialogue and performance project.
