PROJECT D COMPANY AND COLLECTIVE: UNCONSCIOUS PRESENT AN EVENING OF TWO EXCITING NEW PLAYS
BASED ON JAPANESE THEMES:
“D” and “DANGER MAN (OR A MORE BEAUTIFUL HEAVEN)”

Although the western embrace of all things Japanese has been steadily increasing, it is quite rare to see contemporary Japanese culture celebrated in a theatrical production in NY.

Project D Company, which actively pursues new writers, artists and producers in the celebration and revelations of being Japanese American, is producing two unique presentations: “D” and “Danger Man (Or A More Beautiful Heaven).

The original metaphysical mystery thriller, “D,” written by Chinatsu Kudo, revolves around a Japanese private detective hired to find his client’s missing wife.  The search takes the investigator through the streets of Tokyo and New York and ultimately, through his own past.

Inspired by the work of legendary filmmaker Seijun Suzuki “Danger Man (Or A More Beautiful Heaven)” is Darren Anderson’s tribute to Japan’s “yakuza” films. Underneath a ”B movie” homage, the play examines the tension between post-war nihilism and ancient traditions of clan and honor.

“D” followed by “Danger Man (Or A More Beautiful Heaven)” will be presented from Thursday, June 16th through Sunday, June 26th at the Collective: Unconscious theater, 279 Church Street (South of White Street), 212.254.5277.

The performance schedule is Thursday through Saturday at 7p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2p.m.

Tickets are $15 and $12 with valid Student ID and available through www.theatermania.com.
